WHERE IS LEIGH BENTON?

My dear nieces and nephews, you may recall all the fuss about a conflict of interest concerning Mr. Benton and how the issue is going to the Grand Jury and the Ethics committee will defer to the Grand Jury. All because he took a job with the firm he hired (as Chair of the committee) to do the work on the Government Center. David Hoovler was “all over this”.

“Oh! What has become of that?” Your Auntie queries whimsically. Nothing.

Here’s what Leigh has been up to: (with a big “THANK YOU” to the Chronicle!) An excerpt from the article: “Golf and airport no cure for budget” The last two paragraphs:

The county is looking at ways to cut costs to bridge a $60 million deficit.

Legislator Leigh Benton said that despite its costs, the park provides service to all county residents, not just 360 — in an apparent reference to Valley View nursing home. Benton voted along with the majority to pass the nursing home to a local development corporation for eventual sale.

WHY DO THESE POLITICIANS HATE VALLEY VIEW RESIDENTS? THOSE PESKY PEOPLE! All 360 of them!!! SO EMOTIONAL!!! (Hopefully, the sarcasm is obvious).

And here’s what else HAS happened:

The Government Center work is now estimated at $77 million not $67 million! (Good thing we are getting rid of Valley View!-sarcasm, again)

You can’t make this stuff up!!!!
