When does spending save you money? (HINT: We’re not talking about a sale at Macy’s)

Within the first 4-5 months of being in office, the County Executive aka Stevie Wonder was able to get Valley View into the LDC in order to SELL it. He was able to do this just before the Federal Government announced the IGT funding of another few million dollars, which would make the reasons for selling Valley View even more ridiculous. Did anyone in county government know this IGT announcement was going to be released when it was?

The timing is suspicious.

The Bleak Boy announced his forecast of doom and gloom and how the county has a $60 MILLION deficit. (Still not proven). Again, this is part of the reasons used for selling Valley View. (Which would barely put a dent in the 60 million…)

So, END BIG DEFICIT=SELL VALLEY VIEW (B4 Fed IGT)?

Now, we have the big push for the government center repair and rebuild plan, (for about $75-80 million) with promises to have it done this year! What joy to the denizens of Goshen fair village! And wait! There’s more! Another 12 million or so to repair and rebuild other government buildings, because it is more pressing to have a new Board of Elections than a Nursing home for seniors, veterans and other citizens of Orange County. Auntie realizes many of those buildings, especially the court house ARE in need of repair or replacement but do we really need to build a new board of elections building NOW? In the case of the OC Government Center, we have plans to REPLACE a major portion of the center and the big push to get started before (did anyone in OC government know?) before the FEMA funding announcement. (FEMA is NOT going to pay for a remodel and rebuild even if someone claims there is mold in places where mold does not grow but WILL pay for repair of storm damage etc.).

The TIMING IS SUSPICIOUS.

So, END BIG DEFICIT=SPEND $75 MILLION+12 MILLION (B4 FEMA AND SHPO)?

How do you justify selling a small percentage of the county owned property to save money and then spending MORE than the declared deficit on other properties, to what? Save money? WHO benefits from these activities? WHO benefits from the sale of Valley View and the construction projects? (And don’t say the people of Orange County because Auntie will smack you.)

Some of our legislators had very interesting things to say regarding the government center and the other buildings. (Please pay attention to who said what.)

Legislator Mike Paduch said: It’s all about spending millions and millions of dollars”

Legislator Chris Eachus said: "Unless we have unlimited amounts of money that we have to throw around, millions of dollars, then these are connected,"

And then, we have on the famous “Let’s move forward” from Kitty Katie, aka Legislator Katie Bonelli. (If you recall, your Auntie Alibi has a strong dislike for this euphemism for “I am dismissing you”)

Kitty Katie SAID: "There is no reason why this shouldn't be moving forward today,"

"There is no reason why this shouldn't be moving forward today,"

Oh, yes there is.

  1. There seems to be more than enough $$$ to spend on projects where "the favorites" are concerned, the ones who contributed the most and are now tired of waiting for their reward. I mean Edw. Diana's last quote before he left office was "there is plenty of money". But yet VVC is being blamed for a $60M deficit that our current CE can still not prove, but he does put the blame on Mr. Brescia and the other legislators for the existing problems. There also seems to be some underhanded funny business going on in selling the nursing home (the blame will be put on the members of the LDC.. I suppose they are aware of this and will be rewarded too). Let's see, the Golden Hill Nursing Home, recently sold via an LDC is being sued for unlawful documenting of records which resulted in the death of a resident (you mean now, when all we hear how well the transition has been going). And now the OCGB is front and center and there is more proof positive that there was never any mold and this form of architecture is to be treasured. Poor CE, guess you did not do your homework AGAIN. People from as far away as Spain and France will not stand to see this building torn town and altered in any way. What is the rush CE to spend, spend, spend. Are you going someplace. I mean you are only in office, 6-mos. and look at all the trouble you are in. The taxpayers are not happy, I know I am not. And please don't tell us that the casinos will make everything wonderful, provide jobs, and solve all our problems. Please just make these 4-yrs. go away quickly and pray you leave us without doing too much more damage. You made campaign promises and only you are to blame for not keeping them. Do you CE know how to tell the truth to anyone ... who keeps your scorecard.

  2. My Dear Nipote (Niece or Nephew):

Thank you for your insightful comment, you bring up some good points that your Auntie omitted. (not by design). The previous County Executive did indeed say that there's "plenty of money".

So even more so, it makes us wonder where it all went...
