Dear Nieces and Nephews, They are doing it again! The uninformed of the
legislature are going to do a repeat performance of the Orange Valley View LDC.
Maybe they hope that this time we won’t notice that this needs to be done
through a local law NOT by adopting a resolution, per the NYS Supreme Court.
Agenda item No 1 for this Thursday’s agenda:
AUTHORIZING THE TRANSFER OF ALL RIGHT, TITLE AND INTEREST
OF THE FACILITY (AS DESCRIBED BELOW), TO THE ORANGE VALLEY VIEW DEVELOPMENT
CORPORATION AND WITH RESERVATION OF RIGHTS TO THE COUNTY TO CONTINUE TO OPERATE
AS A TENANT OF THE FACILITY.
But what is interesting when you compare is agenda item
25
RESOLUTION OF THE ORANGE COUNTY LEGISLATURE PROVIDING FOR
ANNUAL MAINTAINANCE AND REPAIRS OF THE ORANGE COUNTY CEMETERIES LOCATED AT THE
RESIDENTIAL HEALTH CARE FACILITY PREMISES ON QUARRY ROAD, TOWN OF GOSHEN, NEW
YORK.
WHEREAS, since the early 1800s, the
County of Orange has been responsible for providing food, shelter and a final
resting place for the young and old who were indigent and those suffering from
mental disorders. The facility, located on Quarry Road in the Town of Goshen,
was once known as the “Poor House,” “County House” or the “Farm, providing
respite, education and resources to those in need.” Today, the complex has
evolved into a public nursing home, a housing complex, buildings for the
operations of the Department of Social Services and County Clerk as well the
original cemetery which dates back to the early 1800s; and
Talking out of both sides of their mouths. Again.
And, of course, Stevie Thunder is just pushing this along.
From Saturday’s midhudsonneuhaus.com:
STEVE SAID:
“They all have a better quality of care rating, according
to the New York State Department of Health, so people being cared for under
these types of institutions have a better rating than we have there, which is a
good sign, In addition to that, all lot of them said they would retain many of,
if not all, of the people being employed at Valley View, which is another
bonus, so that allows you to not lay off anybody. They would simply go into the
private sector.”
To the first point re quality of care: To which NYS DOH
are you referring? Because the one that the rest of us see has information, if
you read it correctly, Dain, er Steve, that shows Valley View meets or exceeds the State Average for
Orange County nursing homes in most measured parameters.
Is this another example of Dain’s “middle amount of care”
because it was placed in the middle of a list?
To the second point re job retention, as County Executive
you CANNOT guarantee jobs in a facility over which you have no control! Or are
you acting contrary to your pro-business roots which clearly believe that less
government interference in business is preferable?
Misreading and quoting out of context. Again.
Looks like the "Fix is in" For Focus Ventures. Check out their "rating" on the NYS DOH website.
