Layoffs!!! There Must Be Layoffs!!!

Dear Nieces and Nephews, we have a moment to rejoice regarding last Thursday's vote by the OC legislature (not enough votes to form another illegal LDC to sell Valley View) but it is far from over.

STEVE SAID“A majority of legislators continue to favor privatization in order to focus taxpayer dollars on core county services, (in a statement emailed by county spokesman Dain Pascocello- See THR today) (underlines ours)

Question for you, Dain: Are you and the CE really "focusing on core county services" or is it something to do with your Uncle Bill Pacoscello of Orange Administrative Services (OAS).?

Do you think, Dain (Oh! we could end the question right there, but will carry on) that there may be a time when you should not speak for or speak about the nursing home because it may be difficult for you to be objective? Have you ever asked your Uncle Bill Pascocello about his mismanagement of Valley View (to the tune of $750,000/yr) in an apparent attempt to run it down? Did you ask him about how he (as OAS, along with Bill Deprospo and gang) would "buy it on the cheap"? What did he say? "It's business, and counties should not be in the nursing home business, only persons like myself should." (hypothetical)

What exactly is a core service to you, Dain? A golf course? a County owned Airport?

It never ceases to amaze Auntie and the team how some of our elected and appointed officials manage to use selective logic (applying logic to one set of circumstances and not to other similar ones) to obtain the desired outcome. And to do it with a straight face!!! Oh that's right, we are supposed to be stupid and not notice. Why is it that this County Executive and his spokesman, Dain, can actually state publicly that the nursing home, Valley View, should not be county-owned, and not even consider that the same logic might apply to the County-owned airport and golf courses?

Because they think we are stupid.

Why are we, the taxpayers, shelling out money for renovations in offices where the buildings are not even owned by the County? (nice to have a gym!) Why is it that the County can pay an architect firm, Clark Patterson Lee, money for renovations to the Government Center that are not occurring! We are paying them for nothing! And have been for months!

Because they think we are stupid.

Dain, are you Orange County's Jonathan Gruber?

Maybe the County Executive could find some money by selling the airport instead of the nursing home; but no, the County won't do that. We suspect that there is something more with this overly aggressive campaign (to sell VV) than just the desire to "balance the budget".

STEVE SAID: “At some point, money would run out and you would have to talk about massive layoffs.” That's right, he is actually using threats against the rank and file in order to get his own way. And since the salaries of these persons he threatens, pale in comparison to the executive level salaries, maybe the CE should consider layoffs at that level. After all, we can save over $100,000 a year if we just got rid of ONE person from "Team Orange".

$182,177 County Executive
$130,00 Deputy County exec
$159,900 District Attorney
$107,650 County Clerk
$119,988 Sheriff
$115,000 Undersheriff
$   **      County Executive Spokesperson (**more than the $25,361.09 for the second half of 2013 working for Rep. Murphy's office or the average salary of $34,806 from 2008 to 2012 working for Assemblyman Townsend)

Deputy County Executive the recently created and unnecessary position  save $130k
(BTW Where IS Wayne Booth?)
Undersheriff We have an Undersheriff earning almost as much as his boss. Essentially, we have two sheriffs, one elected, the other not elected. Why? save $115K
County Spokesperson: If the CE would just speak for himself... save

And just to have something with which to compare, look at the following:
The NYS Governor's salary is $179,000 (2013-14) minus the 5% "give-back" for 2014-15!

The Orange County Executive is making $182,177, more the the Governor of the whole State!

Now let's look at some other OC numbers:

From the Comptrollers office for the fiscal year 2013:

Where's the $60 million deficit?

Guess what? We are NOT stupid.

  1. Did you see -- first he said 500 layoffs, then he said 400 layoffs, then he said 422 layoffs, now he says in his midhudnews.com , 200 layoffs .....

My grandady used to tell me, "Son, never tell lies, cause you will forget what lies you have told in the past, and you shall make a foul of yourself because of that!"

  2. Perhaps the 1st thing we the taxpayers should do before electing any politician is making them take some sort of psychological test, and a who do you know test, and are you for real test.

  3. Physco testing along with a polygraph test. That would send them scrambling for cover.

  4. That is probably more than $1,000,000 alone when you figure retirement and benefits and that is just the tip of the iceberg. Inflated wages for the chosen few on the backs of the little guy.

  5. To make more than anyoone for county executive job while threatening the workers is just wrong

  6. Well let's face it no one will ever nominate this county executive as one of the nation's top leaders. He made the wrong decision to align himself with some of the most corrupt men in orange county. You play you pay and I think he is going to learn his lesson quick. He will go down dirty with his friends. And that would be $80K for Daino boy.
