Hoovler Hootin' and Hollerin' and Steve Stonewalling Meeting today

Dear Nieces and Nephews, "Why" you ask, "is the District Attorney so hell-bent on adding to his Asset Basket with this Asset Seizure law?"

There are many examples of abuse with such laws; just google "asset seizure" or "asset seizure laws" and watch what comes up.

David Hoovler, the Orange County District Attorney wants the legislature to pass a law where, for a misdemeanor charge, note not "conviction", he can seize assets and have quite a long time period after the charge to do so. He hollers about "Drug Crimes" and the heroin epidemic but THIS law would not apply to such felonies.

So that is not the reason.

Hoovler hoots about the revenue that would be generated for Orange County which brings it closer to the real reason for promoting this law, even though it violates the fourth amendment.

But that is not the real reason.

So what is the real reason?

This is the real reason: Marketing awards!!!

from the THR: (PSA= public service announcement)

The PSAs, paid for with asset forfeiture funds, were part of the education prong of Hoovler’s plans when he took office in January.(THR)

He needs more money to enter contests!!! And with the monies made from the asset seizures going into the general fund, he can ask his buddy, Stevie, for more MARKETING MONEY!!!

And speaking of Steve, we all know Steve wants to sell Valley View to close the budget gap. We know that he has told us that we have a financial crisis and have to "tighten our belts". So, we assume that means we should spend only for necessities, not the "nice to haves".

So, what's this?

The biggest cut Neuhaus wants to reverse involves $350,100 in new funding for what he describes as infrastructure projects that promote economic development or public safety. The county has said it would coordinate this funding with local governments but offered no other details about how it would distribute the grants and who would be eligible to apply for them. -THR-Chris McKenna

There it is again: economic development! He simply will not let those Seniors, Veterans and other residents of Valley View stand in the way of ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT!!! He wants goodies to hand out to his favorites!!! (Please note: Auntie and the team firmly believe you can be business-friendly without detriment to Valley View.)

What fun!

The PSAs, paid for with asset forfeiture funds, were part of the education prong of Hoovler’s plans when he took office in January.
“Considering it’s our first go-around and we won awards?” he said. “It’s fantastic,” he said.

  2. I called the Legislative office today because by this AM the AGENDA was still not listed. I spoke with Doreen, who informed me the AGENDA could not be listed "because tax resolutions were being added." When I questioned why they could not list the original AGENDA and as the tax resolutions came up, just add them to the original AGENDA, Doreen told me "that was not the procedure." She further stated they hoped to get the AGENDA, posted later this morning. I thought there was a requirement that the AGENDA needed to be posted so many hours before the meeting??

Attention all those on das administrations enemies list you are on the Team Oranges Assest Removal program.A must read is NELSON ROTH'S report to Gov. Geo. Pataki Evidence Tampering by NYS POLICE as a result several members of that agency went to prison. This isn't an isolated situation of overly aggressive police work i am sure.

  6. Was it a deliberate ploy to keep the Agenda on the down low so as not to encourage the public from attending and speaking on this Asset Forfeiture Law. It is bad enough that the timing of these PUBLIC meetings make it virtually impossible for anyone other than a turnip to attend. Just how many people in OC realize the ramifications of this law, where is the money going...legally. Where is it disclosed in the law what exactly can the funds collected be used for and who controls the accountability. Was it publicly published or is that not a priority. We turnips have questions that needed to be answered before the law is passed. Wonder how many people actually showed up and spoke about the horrors of this law. But then I doubt it made any difference. They all had pep talks from their leader, the man behind the curtain,

  7. The bill passed for this with a provision called the "sunset law". Start trading in your good cars for a clunker and don't wear your good clothes when going out.... evidence you know.

  8. Interesting enough but the same marketing agency (Jessica Gardner) used by Hoovler for his PSA is the same marketing agency used by Team Orange in last year's election. Jessica is also real good friends with Hoovler's butterball buddy Karl, She even attended social events as Karl's date and was also a very big part of his Assembly campaign.
