Another Car Story or Albany Autos

Dear Nieces and Nephews,

Last week the new assembly speaker, Carl Heastie SAID. “We want to make sure that in our resolution we let the people know that we look forward to having more open disclosure and transparency in terms of outside income,”  http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/speaker-carl-heastie-ethics-reform-apply-cuomo-article-1.2144907

What about “inside income”? That is, income and perks on the taxpayers dime?

Heastie, who became speaker last month after the fall from grace of Sheldon Silver, is cruising in a brand-new, publicly funded black 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. ($39,448) This is in addition to his $41,500 stipend on top of his $79,500 assembly salary.

Assembly Spokesman Michael Whyland defended the acquisition by explaining that the speaker will be traveling across the state.

We guess that using his own car and putting in for LEGITIMATE expenses isn’t good enough.

Nice job, if you can get it.

Someone should look into the abuse of overtime in the county clerks office in the Parry building.

During the Diana Admin. Diana was questioned relative to rules on county vehicles were to be utilized. ANS. Employees assigned vehicles had FULL USE OF THEM. Former O.C. ATTY. Cathrine Deprospo Bartlet often had her golf clubs in her assigned vehicle? Never know when she had to respond to an emergency GOLF GAME at Otter Kill. Watch out 4.

Why does anyone who works for the county or the state really need us to pay for their car to get to and from work?

My chief concern is that the current administration bought all new vehicles for elected and appointed officials. My family can't buy a new car this year - why should the assistant to the assistant in county govt get a new take home car? The list needs to be made public!

Why do you think he wasn't screaming about the deficit in this year's state of the county speech? He couldn't justify spending if things were so bad!
