DA Dave on the right track

Dear Nieces and Nephews, it seems that Orange County District Attorney Dave Hoovler is on the right track with the welfare fraud sweeps. And last time,  Auntie questioned why there were no KJ residents arrested in those sweeps. Do not misunderstand, Auntie and the Team are endorsing prosecution not persecution. The reason why Dave should look into KJ more is statistical, a 93% enrollment in Medicaid, there is bound to be more than one or two perps for Medicaid fraud. We encourage Mr. Hoovler to continue with an even handed approach. We encourage him to dispel the grumblings of the general public and some of the Team; that the KJ residents arrested in this latest sweep are just “token Hasidim” included just for appearances.

“…since more recent figures had showed much higher Medicaid enrollment in Kiryas Joel.”  http://www.recordonline.com/article/20140605/NEWS/406050314/

Just enforce the law against all criminals, no matter who or where they are.

Seven of the defendants are charged with illegally collecting in excess of $20,000 each. According to officials: Mordechai Friedman, 37, of Kiryas Joel, and his corporation, YMF and Associates, collected more than $61,000 in Medicaid benefits; Reyna Martinez, 32, and Angel Campos, 35, both of Middletown, collected $31,765 between Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Payments and Medicaid; Jennifer Weatherly, 41, of Middletown, collected $27,021 in SNAP and Medicaid; Brenda Quick, 51, of Port Jervis collected $23,594 in SNAP and Medicaid; Chayim Deutsch, 36, of Kiryas Joel and his business, KJ Advertising, collected $21,133 in Medicaid; and MD Islam, 77, of Monroe – who has not yet been arrested – collected $39,299 from Medicaid. Islam lives in Bangladesh 10 months of the year, officials said.

Hoovler said Friedman and Deutsch used the structure of their corporations to underreport their income so they would appear eligible for public benefits, and Deutsch created false documents understating his income.

When you think about it, OCDA David Hoovler seems to be the only member of “Team Orange” who is keeping his campaign promises.
