Another Dan “We Can!” Flash in the Pan

Dear Nieces and Nephews, a question for you: What company would proceed with a project that requires a significant investment without being absolutely certain of getting the necessary, government approvals?

“No one!” you answer.

Well, if you are Valley Agricueticals, you do. They took an “educated leap of faith” according to Valley’s President, Eric Holting., who has invested $750k in this project that cannot proceed. $750,000 is some leap of faith.

Either Valley Agriceuticals was dead certain that they would obtain the license for a (pot farm) medical marijuana manufacturing site or they are very poor business people.

We are not saying that Dan Depew or anyone else actually vocalized some favorable assurances to the folk at Valley, but maybe somewhere in all of the press releases and local board approvals is the implication: “Don’t worry, we’ve got this”.

DAN SAID: “We’re devastated”.

You should be. Now the Town of Wallkill is left with a roofless cinder-block building that will serve as an “attractive nuisance” and do nothing for “agricultural preservation”.

Better luck with the Water Park, Dan. And don’t forget the traffic cameras.

The Department of Health had rigorous criteria for the applicants to have met and may be seen at:
The top five with their scores are:

PharmaCann LLC                                  97.12
Empire State Health Solutions LLC       96.46
Columbia Care NY LLC                         95.08
Etain, LLC                                              91.0
Bloomfield Industries Inc.                      90.59

Valley Agriceuticals, LLC                     89.49

And our friends from Focus Ventures aka CanniCare LLC scored 59.96 despite the recommendation from Touro Osteopathic Medical School, Middletown NY. (And how many medical schools recommend nursing home providers and medical marijuana companies? Answer: only one.)

According to the NYS Department of Health, the breakdown of manufacturing sites and dispensaries is as follows:

Organization Name
Facility Type
County
Bloomfield Industries Inc.
Manufacturing
Queens
Dispensing
Nassau
Dispensing
New York
Dispensing
Onondaga
Dispensing
Erie

Columbia Care NY LLC
Manufacturing
Monroe
Dispensing
New York
Dispensing
Suffolk
Dispensing
Clinton
Dispensing
Monroe

Empire State Health Solutions
Manufacturing
Fulton
Dispensing
Broome
Dispensing
Albany
Dispensing
Westchester
Dispensing
Queens

Etain, LLC
Manufacturing
Warren
Dispensing
Albany
Dispensing
Ulster
Dispensing
Westchester
Dispensing
Onondaga

PharmaCann LLC
Manufacturing
Orange
Dispensing
Erie
Dispensing
Onondaga
Dispensing
Albany
Dispensing
Bronx

This means that the five manufacturing sites are in Queens, Fulton, Monroe, Warren and Orange.Out of the 62 counties in NY there are less than 15 counties that have dispensaries and most are downstate.

So one just needs to be certified patient or caregiver with a prescription from a certified doctor and one can go to the marijuana dispensary and get medical marijuana.

Lots of hope for people with incurable diseases but somebody is going to be making a lot of money...
