Legoland: Impressions of a Theme Park

 Dear Nieces and Nephews:

Last Thursday evening, the Goshen Planning Board gave the “ok” for the Legoland application to continue, The Draft Environmental Impact Statement is open for public review and comment and the public hearing scheduled for Dec 15th.

“You’re ruining a Beautiful Town” one Goshen resident yelled at the planning board.
 Thr Friday Nov 18th

This is “downtown” Goshen:

Called “Village Square” it is owned by the First Presbyterian Church but is used as a public green and is home to the Farmer’s Market in the summer

View of the Main Street from the “Village Square”

You get the idea. Yes, the outskirts of the village are also home to the OC Government Center and the Court house, but for the most part, Goshen is a historic village surrounded by farmland in the Town of Goshen.

And this is a sample of what Merlin wants to build for a hotel in Goshen:

An actual picture of the Legoland Hotel in Florida.

And in today's THRecord we have two different impressions of the Legoland in Florida after visiting. It seems that the ones who were for it prior to the trip, had a favorable impression. Those who were not in favor, came back home reaffirming their view.

Auntie  hopes that a few pictures help.

I would think anyone who thinks the OC Government Center is horrid would have to oppose allowing anything this garish to be built in the Town of Goshen. It is perfectly fine for a resort area.

You wouldn't be referring to our County Executives, current and past, who thought the OC Government center "did not belong" in Goshen?
If we had known that all you had to do to save the government center was color it with crayons, we would have been there with 400 people each with a few boxes of the 64's working away!

Why don't we leave the Disneyland where they belong? In Florida and California.

This is a great opportunity for Goshen and Orange County. This will be a great asset to the children of the area. You will have a lot of trouble even seeing it unless you are on the property. So many pluses and so few negatives. One negative is the way the anti-Legoland behaved at the planing board meeting. It was so bad that they needed to have two or three police at the town board meeting.

Opportunity for what? To be like the places that are home to Disneyland and Legoland? I will wager that you will see the traffic, you will hear the noise, you will feel the drain on our services etc.
And as far as behavior, if you truly want to look at bad behavior, ask all of the Union thugs threatening those who are opposed to Legoland. Maybe that is why the police were there. Is it truly an opportunity for Orange county or is it an opportunity for a select few to make money?
And after looking at that picture of the lego hotel how you can speak of opportunity merely shows that you too, stand to make lots of money from this.
Perhaps you think other counties are "Jealous of us"...
