Dear Nieces and Nephews
Do you remember the rather confounding political flyers from a man who was a virtual unknown to the general public in Orange County? Flyers stating that he “Gets It” and “We are all in this together”.
Do you remember saying to yourself, even though he did not indicate for what office he was running, “Who is this guy and what does he want? Votes? He is certainly not doing this merely to be our friend.” Some of Auntie’s Team even questioned his sanity with such an approach, because we knew he was running for office. (Actually it is quite simple to deduce that, since he is from Stony Point in Rockland County, he must be running for something on the State level. But Shhh! Don’t tell him, he is trying to be clever.)
In one of these aforementioned flyers he did allude to his “building a grassroots campaign for State Senate should our great Senator Bill Larkin choose to retire.”
Looking at the “great” senator at 90 years of age, barely able to stand, it is not stretching one’s imagination to think that Senator would retire.
Who spends money on political campaign flyers if they are not running for office? A lunatic?
Who spends money on political billboards* if they are not running for office? An egomaniac?
Do politicians think that everyone in Orange County lacks intelligence and deductive reasoning skills?
“Golly gee, He “gets it”! Lets vote for him! (sarcasm).
This whole “campaign” has been rolled out as if it were a gradual process and the decision for Tom to run for NYS Senate was a recent one, just for the people’s benefit. (Tom stepped up to the plate because the “great” senator is retiring. After all, “we are all in this together”. ‘Atta boy Tom!)
They must believe that we, in Orange County, are gullible as well.
“...building a grassroots campaign for State Senate should our great Senator Bill Larkin choose to retire.” Ha!
What great showmanship!
Furthermore, while his Marketing 101 approach gets points from the Noodlehaus crowd, (get your name out there, stay on message, attack your opponent and stretch the truth or make invalid conclusions from a set of facts, etc) many of us are getting annoyed.
“What is that, Auntie” you say, “ How is this Town Councilman from Stony Point related to Steve Noodlehaus?”
He is most definitely associated with Steve, a brotherhood possibly bound by political ambition and greed.
Here’s one reason why we say that. Please review the following. Both of these accounts are active:
From the January periodic 2017 Tom Basile Town Council campaign account:
showing a $500.00 donation to Friends of Neuhaus in 2016.
There are more contributions to Steve listed in Basile's disclosure reports.
Basile met with Steve, contributed money to Steve's campaign before September 2016. He made multiple contributions to republican committees in OC (New Windsor, Blooming Grove, Woodbury, Montogomery, Crawford, the OC Republican Legislative Caucus) and candidates Minuta (FOS) Brescia (FOS) Bonelli (FOS) and more! Far far away from the land of Stony Point.
But he didn’t know he was running for senate… ha!
And the endorsement for the senate seat by the Orange County Republican Committee was certainly not decided in 2016! The process was transparent and open to all challengers at the OC GOP meeting in May of this year. (remember, sarcasm!)
Basile ran for Town Council (Stony Point) 2017 while this progressed.
We wonder if the good people of Stony Point knew, that while Tom was running for town council, he was really running for senate? Do you think they might feel betrayed at being so used?
And yes, the Mercer money is there:
$18,000 eighteen thousand dollars, yes, you read that correctly. And he received another $18k from a Sheila Flanagan. (18 -the number of life!)
But off course, Tom Basile will not be influenced by such donations. And that is why he can say the following with "a straight face":
TOM SAID: “The problem of government corruption is connected to both money in politics and a growing disconnect between people and officials.”
Perhaps Tom Basile should engage Kenny of Hoboken/So-broken film fame, as his campaign manager. They seem to have so much in common. We wonder if Basile also believes, like Ken, that it is OK to kidnap women for certain purposes.
Tom, Welcome to Orange County.

This guy acts like he has a stick up his *ss or that he is better than everyone else --- he will be defeated so bad, I can't wait!
ReplyDeleteDo not dismiss him and his backers so lightly. These people are dangerous in their ambitions
ReplyDeleteBe very afraid. He was given the inside track and was TOLD that Larkin was not running long before it was made public. It is all among friends and he was 'chosen' for this position.
ReplyDeleteYes, He was hand picked .... as Larkin says "We can trust Tom to do our bidding"
ReplyDeleteWhat an insult to the people of Orange County he is!
