OC Government Center and A Republican Surprise! Just in time for the Convention!

Dear Nieces and Nephews:

Auntie and her team (and that is why your Auntie occasionally uses "We", not because she thinks she is royalty) have a BIG SURPRISE for the Republicans in Orange County!

The Republicans in this County have a tarnished reputation. Do you think they can survive any more bad PR? Well, we will see!!!

So everyone, please come back to this blog Monday Evening for some fun and pertinent information! We can be reached at:
All you committee members, don't vote without coming here for a look first!!!

In the meantime, let's contemplate the following mathematical formula:

$67 Million=74 Million +12.5 Million

For those in County Government who need a math lesson the above equation is NOT TRUE.

So if the cost regarding the County Government Center and the "ancillary buildings" has risen to over $85 Million, then pray tell, mi cari nipoti, why did we need to save money, curb spending and worry about our bond rating by selling Valley View? What do you think this is going to do to our Moody's rating? And at what rate do you think this will be bonded out? Hmmn?

On May 1st, the meeting where the legislature voted to spend this money, another proposal was considered:

From the THR Chris McKenna:
Gene Kaufman, a principal with Gwathmey Siegel Kaufman & Associates Architects, had announced his proposal at the May 1 meeting at which county legislators approved the $74 million Government Center project.

Guess they didn't consider that for too long.

Mr Kaufman said:
"Our proposal, which could create significant savings for the county, would also save this important architectural masterwork and give it new life as a vibrant amenity for the village of Goshen as a cultural and tourist destination, supporting the local economy, much like the DIA Art Foundation in Beacon."

Auntie thinks: "Why spend money if you don't have to?"

And this may help the small businesses in Goshen, even if the DMV is not there. (BTW did you know that not one of the employees at our local DMV knows anything about the DMV website? To get help, you have to call Albany, how convenient! Look out Haverstraw, here we come!!!) (Haverstraw is on the way home for most commuters in Southern Orange County, why go to Newburgh or Middletown?)

Dain Pascocello said:
"We are always open to hearing good ideas from anyone," he said by email.
"There has been no indication from the legislature that they intend to abandon their original decision to renovate the building, and we expect work to start this summer."

KATIE Bonnelli, Chair of the Blooming Grove Republican Committee, former Director of the OC Republican committee under Billy Deprospo (Fancy title, she worked in the office); President of the OC Federation of Republican Women and currently Chair of the Physical Services Committee OC Legislature, SAID: "I expect these to move forward. These are things that we absolutely have to do."

Really now? I guess Ms. Bonelli, also the former Supervisor of Blooming Grove, should know about these matters.

and where is STEVE NEUHAUS? Doing the math, off course!

SEE YOU MONDAY!!!

Fondest regards,

Auntie Alibi
