L. STEPHEN SAID: “There was a consent resolution to disband the contact with Clark Patterson Lee and it was a last minute consent resolution. We hadn’t discussed it before,If they want to talk about it in committee, that’s fine, but I think to bring it to the floor at the minute hour like this is irresponsible.”
Clark Patterson Lee led by, the now famous (or notorious?) Phillip Clark (and also of CGR- Center for Government Research fame, a supposedly non-biased "think-tank") has expanded the RENOVATION of the OCG Center into a DEMOLITION project that has exceeded original cost estimates by millions of tax payers dollars!!! Sounds like a good reason "to disband their contract" And while the procedure of introducing the consent resolution at full legislative meeting may not be the norm, a procedural variation is no reason to dismiss it.
It is too bad that the legislators who introduced the resolution were not effective.
We can build a brand new government center for HALF of the project costs put forth by CLARK PATTERSON LEE!
L.STEPHEN SAID:“We are moving ahead and we are ready to go. Demolition is
going to start and reconstruction.”
Move forward for the sake of moving forward? WHY? Why are you destroying a easily RENOVATED building? Forget whether or not the Paul Rudolph design belongs or doesn't belong in Goshen, why plod ahead with a demolition; one that is unfavorable and possibly injurious, just because the process has taken so long?
What's the incentive?
What's the incentive?
Think of the environmental pollution when trying to whack those almost indestructible concrete walls! Think of the effect the heavy truck traffic will have on the aging infrastructure!
We can see it now: the three little piggies, OCGC, VV AND AO (annexation opposition) all quaking in the presence of the big bad wolf! As the Wolf named Stevie approaches the first piggy, he says: "I'll huff and I'll puff, and I'll blow the house down".
And don't think the Wolf is finished with the other two piggies.
Dear Auntie:
ReplyDeleteIn addition, as a new name for this County building project, I like this name also: The "Ugly New House"
I love the damage control 8.5 X 11 the two Steve's sent out with info from the Office of the Aging. I guess the attack on the seniors with the selling of Valley View is starting to work on their conscience. Or, perhaps it is an attempt to show how much they care about the senior population of OC.
