It Pays to Play with KJ
Dear Nieces and Nephews, Associating with KJ has been financially
beneficial to some. Your Auntie presents two examples here, The Governor of NY
and Wayne Corts, developer from Central Valley.
As the world knows, Governor Cuomo recently vetoed two
annexation bills sponsored by Assemblyman James Skoufis.
Andrew cites his reasons and Auntie has commented on them
and the flawed logic he employed. But what really pushes Auntie’s buttons is elaborating
further on such rationale, which we all know was fabricated to fit the
pre-determined outcome. In the THR article referenced above, the Governors
spokesperson Richard Azzopardi, repeated the “unconstitutionality” argument,
but Richard Azzopardi further insults the people of New York with the following
statement:
“As stated in the
Governor’s veto messages, these bills were not approved because one was
unconstitutional and the other would have resulted in undue burdens being
placed on the municipalities it was intended to help,"
Oh Richard! Is it really an undue burden to comply with
the same environmental laws with which EVERYONE ELSE MUST COMPLY? And that bit
about municipalities being responsible for “missteps” by previous
administrations would not have hurt your buddies in KJ because there ARE NO PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATIONS IN KJ. It’s a Theocracy!
We see here another example of one set of rules for
those outside of KJ and one set of rules for the Satmar.
So why did the Governor veto the two bills after strong
lobbying from both sides? Auntie and the Team believe that the $250K was the
inducement.
Andy, only 125k per veto? You should have waited another
hour, you sold your vetos cheap! You could have held out for more, especially
when you consider the apparent cash supply available to the grand rebbe of the
mainstream in KJ. Take a look at this:
The Grand Rebbe of the nation’s POOREST community, Aron
Teitelbaum, bought out the entire first class section of a Lufthansa Flight for
his vacation!!! He and his servant were the only occupants of the first class
section on the flight.
Ask yourselves: why would the the Grand Rebbe fly
Luftanisia and not El AL?
And we don’t think the wine was for the flight
attendants.
Thank you Shmarya Rosenberg!
Andrew’s campaign committee (under the hopeful but
unrealistic name of “Andrew Cuomo 2018”) filed the required July periodic
report which is where we see the donations (adding up to $250K) ultimately from
Mayer Hirsch through the LLC’s. (Mayer is a former Village Trustee, former
Planning board and ZBA Chairman with considerable influence in KJ and obviously
the “bagman”)
See? It pays to befriend the Villiage of Kiryas Joel
leadership!
And now, example number two of “It pays to play with KJ”:
Wayne Corts and United Monroe/Preserve
Hudson Valley
Preserve Hudson Valley is enthusiastically promoting its
next fundraiser, an excerpt from the invitation is below:
“We are so excited to announce that the famous Jimmy
Sturr, grammy winning artist, will be performing at the Preserve Hudson Valley
fundraiser on July 26th at the Falkirk Estate.
The owners of the Falkirk are
generously donating the space, entertainment and food for this event.
This means that every dollar raised goes to the legal
fund to fight the unsustainable and illegal land grabs by Kiryas Joel”
Emily, don’t you know who the owner of Falkirk, Wayne
Corts is?
If you recall, Mr. Corts has been a supporter in real
estate dealings for the village of Kiryas Joel. For example the Ace chicken
farm deal, which received a lot of media attention and negative publicity. Mr.Corts was also an intermediary in an attempt
to buy (NYMA) the New York Military Academy. Mr. Corts, aka the flipper, also
bought the Mobile Home Park in Highland Mills (Woodbury) and sold it to
Hasidim, who still own this significant piece of land.
In May 2002, a group in Kiryas Joel that wanted to provide
more affordable housing for the community approached the Etzel family about
buying their land, said Pinkus Jakobowitz, a member of the group. After they
were turned down several times, Jakobowitz said, the group asked Woodbury developer Wayne Corts to serve as their front
man — a non-Hasidic buyer who could allay Tyler Etzel Sr.'s concerns about
selling to the Hasidic community. Etzel doesn't want his farm to be turned into
the densely populated housing characteristic of Kiryas Joel.
Jakobowitz and his two negotiating partners said that Corts enlisted his
friend, Ralph Petruzzo, and that together they
negotiated a deal in which Petruzzo would buy the property, sell it on to the
Kiryas Joel group and receive $1 million to split with
Corts.
But then something
happened.
Jakobowitz and his
partners said that another Kiryas Joel developer learned of the impending sale
and intervened.
In the end, they
said, the other developer walked off with virtually the same deal they
negotiated.
wWJakobowitz's
group didn't realize Corts and Petruzzo had
dropped them until they read about Petruzzo buying the farm in the Times
Herald-Record on Tuesday. Even then, they called Petruzzo thinking they had
been successful.
Sources in the Satmar community have
identified the ACE Farm buyer as Mayer Hirsch and
the man who tipped him off as Abraham Goldberger,
a Kiryas Joel builder.
Hirsch, 54, is a former Kiryas Joel trustee and chairman of the village
planning and zoning boards. He is described as a major property owner and
powerful force in Kiryas Joel, operating behind the scenes. He did not return
calls for comment.
A half a million dollars for a day’s work, not bad!
Wayne and NYMA:
Wayne and Falkirk:
Auntie is cognizant of the fact Wayne is a business man
but in his business dealings, is he considering the impact on the community as
a whole, especially the one in which he lives?
As the owner of Falkirk country club in Central Valley (Woodbury),
he is now apparently a philanthropist. Or is he a shill? He is hosting and financing
the fund raiser for Preserve Hudson Valley, a group dedicated to stopping the
annexation. Both Preserve Hudson Valley and United Monroe are led by Emily
Convers. Is Wayne pretending to be a supporter and then running back to his
handlers in KJ with inside information for them? Is Emily being taken in by
Wayne or has she sold out?
Either way, it does not bode well.
Your Auntie questions Mr. Corts’ motives. He has close ties to the Hasidim in KJ and was involved in the Ace Farm
deal as mentioned above, which is the next target for guess what? ….annexation!
Auntie was able to obtain a menu for the fundraiser. One of the gourmet appetizers, is chicken a l’
Orange County with the chicken supplied from Ace chicken farm.
The main course will be “Cortsish” game hens direct by
from KJ poultry
tasty chicken?
Auntie and the team think Wayne Corts is hedging his bets,
Wayne is appearing to switch sides to pacify United Monroe/Preserve Hudson
Valley but believes that the annexation will go thru. We believe he is playing
both sides to be with the winner; and then say “oops” to the losers.
Wayne does not do anything unless there is money involved.
Look what money did to a Governor, it can sure help out
an overextended “businessman”.
Think about it.

Auntie you have out done your self . Your research certinally is FOOD FOR THOUGHT. Thanks for all you do.
WTH? Is Emily losing it? WHY would she accept help from someone who is going to be responsible for another big land grab? Is it because it is Woodbury and not Monroe? not cool, Emily
cannot believe what I just read. unbelievable research and eyeopening to say the least. very sad day for all involved if this is any idiccaition of what is going down on this issue.
Few of us that started out with her three years ago, know that she has a hidden agenda, some of us has said it publicly but people are still drinking here cool aid because her talking point "annexation" is a powerful draw.
Oh Auntie! Powerful, eloquent and so on Target! Thank you for a well researched and written blog. I nominate you for the Donald Robinson Memorial Award for Investigative Journalism Article.
Auntie Alibi. Emily Convers here. I saw that you sent me an email asking me to comment on our Preserve Hudson Valley fundraiser at the Falkirk Estate. I had planned on responding to your email but it got buried in my inbox, and quite frankly, I forgot. I will respond to it now. I was approached by a mutual friend who told me that Wayne Corts was interested in throwing a fundraiser, free of charge, to help prevent the land grab attempts by Kiryas Joel. I have heard stories of supposed deals made in the past, but, I take people at face value. And I don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
I do resent the implication in your article that I have any other motive than to accept a large scale venue, free of charge, to hold a successful fundraiser to protect the quality of life for the people of our region. Especially since our fundraisers have outgrown the Captain's Table and a large venue such as this stands to allow us to raise a great deal for our legal fund. The annexation vote is just around the corner and we will need to litigate immediately. What you should know is that there is a small group of anonymous trolls who like to attack me and United Monroe since we're the only game in town fighting the good fight. The trolls are most likely Harley and company. By you casting doubt on me and our hardworking organization, you're hurting the cause, which is a shame, since it's a Monroe-Woodbury-Orange County problem. I'm a grassroots volunteer. Not a crooked politician. Not an evil corporation. I'm also a mom of two young kids who attend the Monroe Woodbury Schools. Please keep that in mind. Thank you.
Auntie, I’ve been saying this over and over. If you don’t let people come to you, they won’t. This is an uphill battle against well-funded, politically connected, organized interests. We can’t afford to let the past rule the present. I will welcome most anyone who will help. If Wayne Cortz has seen the light, great. Come on board. You don’t have to put him on your Christmas card list. Barry Fixler is also one of the owners there, he of Semper Cool renowned, a decorated Vietnam War hero. Preserve Hudson Valley needs to raise a hundred thousand dollars to fund this lawsuit for the benefit of everyone in Orange County. I know it’s fun to take shots at the politicians and the fakes. Emily Convers is neither of those.
Here is a thought.....I don't know if you, Auntie, have tried this before, but if you would like the leaders of United Monroe/Preserve Hudson Valley, to know these important seemingly well researched info, then I suggest you tell them! If we really want to WIN this fight, then we MUST avoid in-fighting as much as possible. We cannot be United if we point fingers at each other. If I had knowledge about Wayne Corts, then I would give that info to UM leaders so that they would know it too. There is NO need to discredit someone whose hard work has started this grass roots campaign, and continues to grow it. If you think Emily is wrong, approach her and ask her what her motives are. Otherwise, you are really aiding and abetting our adversaries by dividing us instead of Uniting u
Very good points Dan C.
If we can stop this annexation then we need to do that. It really boils down to wanting the annexation to go through or not wanting it to go through. I really have to question the motives of the owner of this blog
Look no matter what any of you think of Emily , She is the reason we are as far as we are, if it wasn't for her bringing all of this to light we would all be living somewhere else by now. She has given 100% of her time to this fight so Let's Thank her and not bash her. No one is perfect but she is not the enemy...As for the free venue to raise money....I would have taken it too, make as much money for the cause as we can, it doesn't mean we are in bed with the enemy it just means we are keeping the enemy closer...I hear that's a good idea!
That;s like saying if you are running an environmental group that wants to save green space and not see it developed, you take money from the developer because it is a good cause?
Haha Phil you're funny! Auntie has been right so far.what are YOUR motives? Are you covering up for someone who is not making a good decision or worse?
Dear Emily, your comment automatically went into the spam folder. We have published it for you.
Auntie and the Team have been following your efforts, which we laud. However we question your judgement in this matter. IF you did not know about Wayne Corts, you should have known.
Facts are that he has sold land to Satmar or was involved with such dealings e.g. Ace Farms, the mobile home park in Woodbury and NYMA. Click on the links above if you haven't already (They are just the icing...)
It is incumbent upon you as the leader of a strong grass roots organization to look into these matters. A simple search in the THR website would have gotten you the info. And if you did know and accepted anyway that is a different ball game.
In light of the Governor's quid pro quo with Satmar, hopefully there is no quid pro quo here with Corts.
Is he really someone to whom you want to be obligated?
You're smart, think about it.
When this backfires, Emily Convers and United Monroe will somehow convince their blind followers that they did no wrong because Corts is a hard person to read and they didn't really know him that well, just like they did with Dennis McWatters. No matter how damaging their missteps are, they always manage to come out smelling like a rose because their followers are afraid to speak up. At some point, United Monroe is going to fall off a cliff and take the rest of us with them. But don't fret! They are volunteers who work tirelessly for the cause. In their minds, that makes it all right. I hope that softens the blow when we hit rock bottom. Don't be fooled, folks. Everyone is in it for themselves.
What's wrong with mcwatters?
McWatters was found guilty of having a mind of his own. He didn't follow orders and got the boot.
Whose orders?

Auntie check it out!
Too many people are always bashing Emily and United Monroe. How about joining the fight and working towards the common goals of taking the Monroe town board back. If we work together we can win.Take a stand and help.
