Dear Nieces and Nephews,
Ari has spoken.
He has given the KJ Official Reaction to the County joining the lawsuit. The one to fight the annexation attempt by the Village of Kiryas Joel to "Grab" land from the Town of Monroe. (The County has agreed to spend $250K on the lawsuit.)
According to Ari Felberman, the residents of the communities outside of Kiryas Joel are either fools or Holocaust supporters.
Really, is that the best you can do?
ARI SAID: "There are over 372,000 people in Orange County and it seems plausible that most of them would rather see the money spent on education and infrastructure and other quality of life benefits,, than to pursue a hollow, meritless lawsuit"
Education:
The children's education in Kiryas Joel does not meet the standards required by NYS in English, History, Social Studies, Math and more. But our tax dollars do pay for those boys to learn Yiddish and to study Torah. That's nice, but our tax dollars do not pay for children to study the Bible in Latin so why are we essentially subsidizing Satmar cultural and religious norms? There is a "separation" clause in the US Constitution to ensure that everyone is free to practice their religion, not for us pay for it.

Infrastructure:
Does that mean we should pay for the Catskill Aqueduct connection aka the KJ Pipeline?
Quality of Life benefits:
Yes, Ari, it IS about quality of life, all of ours, not just KJ's. And why complain about a lawsuit when KJ is going to sue re: the 507 Annexation? Hmmn?
Ari, Auntie is surprised that you would balk at spending $250K when KJ spent the same amount to buy a governor.
I agree with almost everything you said, but, I think only one school in KJ is a public school. I am guessing that this school, that is for "special needs" students, meets requirements for NYS.
ReplyDeleteThere are minimum requirements for ALL schools in NY and the US. For example even Catholic schools teach math science and US history in addition to religion.
ReplyDeleteAND we are funding the schools in kj, all of them!
Rock on Auntie!
