Dear Nieces and Nephews,
The World’s most recognized film festival is probably The Festival
de Cannes (Cannes Film Festival)l in France. It was established in the early
Twentieth Century and was registered as an “Association loi de 1901” (or
non-profit association in France) in 1972. It continues as a non-profit to this day.
The Festival’s goal is to promote film-making:
“The aim of the
Festival is to encourage the development of the art of filmmaking in all its
forms, while fostering and maintaining a spirit of collaboration among all
filmmaking countries” (extract from the Festival policy, 1948.) http://www.festival-cannes.fr/en/about/aboutFestivalHistory.html
The purpose is NOT to promote the films or ideas of one
producer/director or line the pockets of one person or entity.
Most film festivals in the US are also non-profits. For
fun, let’s take a look at film festivals in the States of NJ and NY.

This is the search for film festivals in New York returns a large number and due to space limitations, we chose not to print them here. But Auntie and the
Team strongly encourage you to look at the list through this link:
What you will notice, Chers nièces et neveux, is that the
Hoboken “International” film festival is glaring by its omission from these
lists. Just where is Kenny? At the bank? Does this mean that the HIFF and
Justice for All Production is For-profit? Is someone trying to line their
pockets with your hard-earned cash? Exactly how much money has Kenny been given to bring his less than "B" quality films to Orange County? And does he get a portion of the profits from the tickets sales?
Is someone counting on us being a bunch of dweebs?
Nah! Not in Orange County.
Well Aunte nothing changes in Orange Co only the player.
ReplyDeleteI believe the County Executive has a lot of explaining to do as does his republican legislature. We are not getting the bang for the buck. The Woodstock Film Festival is so far advanced and has stars galore. We have to make the politicos answer for all county funds issued to this film festival.
ReplyDeleteJoe Destefano is in with this film festival crowd and he is a democrat. Why are the taxpayers of Middletown paying for this guy to make a profit?
ReplyDeleteThe quality of these films shown are nothing short of disgraceful. Just exactly who do they think they are kidding with this genre of film made by one very untalented man. Is he the only film maker in town or just the biggest con artist. This is like the fairy tale the Emperor's New Clothes. It is more like a scam festival. Who are these wanna be actors that use one once famous star to act in these quasi porno films. I dare DelVecchio to have one rated by a real movie critic not on the dole.
ReplyDeleteThe interesting thing is that he, like so many politicians in the county, think that we do not see it for what it is. And it shows that supreme arrogance of this monster (yes, he and his wife "Dr." Del vecchio, who goes along with it) are just perverted monsters.
