The Rest of US

Meeting of Monroe Town Board annexation vote

Dear Nieces and Nephews,

In the Statement of Findings issued by the Kiryas Joel Village Board, at their "secret" meeting on Sunday; the Village Board enters their 4-0 vote of moving forward with BOTH the 507 acre AND the 164 Acre Annexation petitions. From the Findings statement:

“After careful and thorough consideration, the Village Board finds that the proposed annexation of 507 acres of land to the Village, in and of itself, will not have a significant adverse impact on the environment”

Clear cutting 507 acres, creating more impervious surfaces, altering natural slopes, destroying vegetation and destroying habitats for many animal species, will have no effect on the environment? Really?

“The Board also finds that the environmental effects of the 164-acre annexation alternative itself are comparatively no greater or lesser than the 507-acre annexation”.

The 164 acre annexation is clearly a subset of the 507 acre annexation.

It is also contrary to NYS Law to present projects and annexations partially, in segments, in order to avoid revealing the total overall impacts of the entire project or annexation.

In Part 617.2(ag), segmentation is defined as the division of the environmental review of an action so that various activities or stages are addressed as though they were independent, unrelated activities needing individual determinations of significance. Except in special circumstances, considering only a part, or segment, of an overall action is contrary to the intent of SEQR.”

Also in the document, the Village Board asserts that the annexations are in the overall public interest of the Village of Kiryas Joel and the area to be annexed into the Village. What about the rest of us?

It is the contradiction that irks most of us in the communities in or around Satmar enclaves; the Satmar desire isolation and want nothing to do with the “secular world” but don’t mind receiving support from the secular world. Dear Satmar Nieces and Nephews, if you desire isolation because the rest of us are not to your liking, then fine.  Why not also be isolated from our money and services? Fend for yourselves. Or at least, try. Ye gads, you have almost bankrupted Israel!

We know what the ultimate goal is here, despite the Monroe Town Board voting for just the 164 annexation and outright dismissing the 507 annexation. The Village Administrator, sometimes Village clerk Gedalye Szegedin mentioned that the Village will appeal in the Appellate Division of the NYS Supreme Court http://www.recordonline.com/article/20150909/NEWS/150909343

"Oh! wait don’t do that! We’ll let you take the 164! Just stop there, OK? you say.
But you know it won’t stop there, don’t you? Look at:

Lakewood NJ
Fallsburg NY

Monsey NY
Williamsburg NY

Crown Heights NY
Boro Park NY

Jerusalem. Israel
Buenos Aries, Argentina

Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
London, England

And more…

It is about time that we curb the use of religion as a cover for illegal activity, Medicaid/ Social Services fraud, hostile takeovers and failure to comply with the law in general. Auntie and the Team believe that most people just want fair treatment and the cessation of one group using the law and political clout to their advantage, over the rest of us, by crying "religious discrimination".

And you politicians that aid in this injustice because of the BLOCK VOTE, your days are numbered.

P.S. Using straight lines for municipal boundaries as the rationale for annexation while ignoring natural barriers such as rivers, mountains, valleys etc.  is like saying the states in the United States should also have nice straight-line boundaries. Then the US would look like this:
