GOTTA LOVE THE CHRONICLE!!!
Your Auntie is quite impressed by the team at The Chronicle. They will persistently ask the questions until they receive the answers! They are not going away and your Auntie Alibi is right along with them!
Hard at work for
you:
The Chronicle
looks at disclosure forms at the current county board of ethics office at 15
Matthews Street in Goshen. From left: Alexis Tarazzi, features editor; Pamela
Chergotis, managing editor; Hema Easely, investigative reporter; and Susan
Corsi, account executive
(looks like they are in a closet)
(looks like they are in a closet)
And let’s not forget Edie Johnson, her article this
week:
Grand jury: No crime in Benton job acceptance
District attorney says Orange County's inadequate
ethics review is the culprit: Legislature still has option of giving fine
Let's take a quick
look at an excerpt from this article: (CAPS, highlight and italics mine)
HOOVLER SAID: “the legislator's acceptance of the job
offer was not against
current law or ethics regulations. According to the grand jury report,
Benton followed a list of actions required by the board but missed one step:
writing a letter to the county ethics board about the matter then awaiting its
response.”
WHAT'S THIS, THEN? (My Nieces and Nephews have seen it before, but Hoovler...?)
From the Ethics Code known officially as:
ORANGE COUNTY LOCAL ETHICS LAW (LOCAL LAW NO. 2 OF 1994 AS AMENDED)
1-No officer or
employee shall take action or participate in any manner whatsoever in
his or her official capacity in the discussion, negotiation or the awarding of
any contract or in any business or professional dealings with the County of
Orange or any agency thereof in which the official or employee, their spouse,
child or sibling has or will have an interest, direct or indirect, in such
contract or professional dealings.5
2-No officer or employee shall engage in, solicit,
negotiate for or promise to accept private employment or render services
for his or her personal benefit when such employment or service creates a conflict
or impairs the proper discharge of his or her official duties.
Seems like it is against the law to me. Unless one chooses not to enforce it.
WHERE’S THE HAM
SANDWICH? Hoovler might do better with that…And as far as the legislature
issuing a fine, sure, the Republican majority will issue a fine against one of
their own as sure as you can say "panoply".

So Neuhaus starts office January 1st, by April 9th vvc is in an LDC, May 1st $74 million is bonded for the govt cntr(vvc being sold is paying for the Eddie/Stevie Taj Mahal) & the casinos are coming to town.....who were his campaign endorsements?
Mr Clark from Clark Patterson Lee donated to his campaign to the tune of over 2 grand. They are doing the Govt Center. Bill Deprospo contributed to his campaign as well and don't' be surprised if he isn't somehow connected, representing the buyers, is the buyer etc. Langdon Chapman worked for Senator Bonacic who is chair of the gaming committee in the Senate; is now Steve's County Attorney and Viola! we have casinos coming to town!
Nah, there's no connection.
Campaign contributions are also closely connected to the LDC board....but I'm sure your right, no connection! It's not as though the Honorable County Executive is doing the business of the campaign contributors on the taxpayers dime....that would be unethical& Team Orange lives up to high standard of ethics as noted with Benton
