Camp Fairy Tales
Steve’s Solecism
This week, STEVE SAID: “If you walk in
the property, even in its bad condition now, you can envision an office park, a
Crystal Run Healthcare, if you will, a college campus, I
believe there is a future for that. It’s just getting the developer to either
change his mind and present something that is more palatable to the two towns,
but we are going to utilize that property. My plan is to open it up for
different types of resources.”
Oops! Was that some kind of slip? Or is the County
Executive promoting one medical group over the others? I bet Immediate
Medical/Middletown Medical or Horizion Healthcare are annoyed with that
statement! Off course there no behind-the-scenes deal going on here, so why did
he say that?
STEVE SAID "Something like the Rock Hill Office
Park is what I envision… (revenue from Chester's Industrial Park )"is
how we have been able to keep a balanced budget and good ratings” The
Chronicle 3-28-2013 E. Johnson
Camp LaGuardia has posed a problem from the day the
County purchased the property. We are sure that there is no one in Chester and
it’s environs that wanted to keep the VOA homeless shelter because of the
impacts on the community, but there really was no follow through after it was
purchased. There were issues such as trying to get the Town of Chester to
provide sewer service for any potential development when Steve was Town
Supervisor. In fact, there was a problem getting the Town of Chester and the
Town of Blooming Grove to agree on anything regarding the site.
The Times Herald Record had a sensible commentary on
the issue: from editorial thr 1-19-14:
THR SAID:“Neuhaus, as supervisor of the Town of
Chester, is intimately familiar with all of the issues and the chances of any
solutions. He has talked about creating a local development corporation,
similar to the one Ulster County used to sell its county nursing home, (it seems like Steve sees an LDC as the solution to all problems, what’s next? And LDC for the Sheriff’s
department?) to move this forward. In Ulster, however, the LDC was the
means to reach an end that already had been determined through debate and
compromise.(Good point) Orange County
needs to start from scratch with the two municipalities. If the leaders and the
people who live there can agree on what they want on the property, what is the
acceptable mix of commercial and residential development, then the present
developer can either meet those expectations or clear the way for somebody new
to come in who will.”
Back on the campaign trail STEVE SAID: "The
project should be re-bid, It
has languished for years because the developer wants high-density housing that
will ultimately raise local property taxes." (referring to Mountco)
But Steve advocated for the Mountco project in 2008 when
he was Chester Supervisor. He then began to favor more commercial and less
residential use which evolved into commercial only. (Refer to article by C.Mckenna THR 9-20-13)
So now we begin to wonder: Steve, do you really have a
plan? Or are you just throwing out sound bites again?
Steve looks confused
2 Comments:
Hal Tietelbaum of Crystal Run gave a campaign comtribution of $1000 to Steve back in Dec.
So did William Deprospo.
Jack Holt (construction co. in Pearl River) gave $4000, Holt Construction $1000
Monticello Raceway management $2000
Could it be that our CE will advocate according to money rreceived?
Always follow the money...
