Making Sense Again
Auntie, again, found comments made by Legislator Simmons to be refreshing. Is there something in the water on that side of the county? (if so, we encourage Karl Brabenec to drink it; have you listened to him on the radio lately?) Anyway, in regard to the closing of DMV offices in Newburgh and Port Jervis:
DENNIS SAID: "You are dealing with two communities that, I think, have some of the lowest median income in the county and now you are asking them to travel in order to get any of their motor vehicle (business) done, It’s kind of a bitter pill to swallow at this point” (parentheses, ours)
He is correct. Closing either one is detrimental to the poor of those respective communities and also detrimental to the businesses that rely on DMV customers.
Dennis get points for thinking about these residual effects. He also gets points for looking out for his community.
Now Auntie has taken some heat regarding her last post on Mr. Simmons because of his stand on Valley View.
But dear Nieces and Nephews, Auntie has hope. When there is a glimmer of enlightenment, a display of thinking things through, Auntie has faith that Mr. Simmons will at least THINK again regarding Valley View. And hope that he sees the folly of aligning himself with other caucus members who don't give rat's tail (oooo! more rats!) about his community and the issues they face in the western portion of the county. Also he might, just might, see how it helps his community: the middle class, the working class poor and his other constituents, to keep Valley View in County hands.
And as far as the DMV closings, is this the county clerks strong arm move to get the DMV back to Goshen? Come on, Annie, you can do better. The idea of the closings is just stupid. (And if we hear the term "unfunded mandates" again, we will scream! Why? because it is just being used as an excuse for politicians to get their own way or to place blame for their own inaction or bad actions on someone or something else. Maybe we should take a look at how many times Annie used that term when she was in Albany).
Look at THR today re DMV office locations, To which one would you go?
Auntie and the team are just going to do business with the DMV on line. Easy.

But some people, even in this day and age, simply do not have this option.
