Let's Sell Some Real Estate!
Dear Nieces and Nephews, you recall, surely, that we have a GIGANTIC budget deficit AND the County is looking to either revamp or sell the government center (although spending $74 Million on a building when there is such a deficit seems a bit odd.)
And when you consider the following, why would our county government not consider; 1- using land currently owned by the county for it's offices or 2- consider selling off those properties instead of selling Valley View?

Here is a general idea of the properties owned by the County (Info available on the county website):
635 properties.
Some of them must be worth something.
The Old County Building at 124 Main St in the Village of Goshen has a full market value of: $2,251,000!
The Surrogates Building at 30 Park Place in same village has a full market value of: $1,360,300!
And this is VERY interesting:

And this is just SBL 20-1-10.21-1. There are at least a dozen more SBL's (section block and lot #'s) in regards to the Valley View property. (This does not go with the argument of selling VV to make up the deficit-we still believe that there are plenty of other properties to sell and/or other ways to close the gap- but this is an illustration of WHY so many want to buy it, for much less than the full market value of...wait for it... *$55,333,000*)
FYI the OC jail has a full market value of $75,234,800
And speaking of property records, let's take a look at the Town of Deer Park, where Assemblyman-Elect Karl Brabenec is the current Town Supervisor:
Orange County Holdings, sounds quasi-governmental, doesn't it?
It's not.
over 636 acres in Deer Park alone...

Just FYI:
Many of these properties are land with homes on them -- and they are rented out to cronies at below fair market rent ... now someone needs to do a report about that in the newspapers!!

County Land Holdings at $17M looks like someone took your advice Auntie, and printed an article but numbers do not jive. All in the eye of the bookkeeper. oops
This would not be the first time that Dain did not utilize information that is readily accessible. Funny, how he would not use the county's own website which is where (as indicated above) Auntie "procured" (excuse the pun) the information.

It took how many years for a CE to admit this county is land rich. People have been mentioning this for years as a solution, but the talking heads never seem to do anything about it. Talk is cheap.... etc. etc. etc.

I caught part of Truatt's show the day after the casino decision was announced and Taylor Sterling (or whatever her name is) was totally unhinged, ranting and raving about it and how bad the state government is.
Later Truatt read some sort of list by a guy about who shouldn't be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and again she was a bit unhinged, suggesting the author of the list should be killed.
It is a real shame the Chronicle story on the station was spiked. Real loss in terms of freedom of the press.
Caught her spiel the other day or should I say rant on the old folks again. How come she really, really doesn't like the old and infirmed? She loves her dogs, the vets, the poor homeless, Leo Kades Ford, the Porsche people, that old geezer who sings, Nascar, and she especially loves Neuhaus...shouldn't she not be allowed to express her opinion without that saying that is announced before each guest host speaks, or are her opinions the opinions of this cock a mamie radio station.
