Dear Nieces and Nephews, for this episode of Wallkill
Week, we find Danny boy jaunting out to Wisconsin, with Maureen Halahan of the Orange County Partnership, to investigate Water Parks!!! Danny is touting the
benefits of having a water park in the Town of Wallkill! What fun!
DANNY SAID: “We’re
in a really unique spot, especially with people coming up from New York City or
over from Pennsylvania or Connecticut to go to the casino, we’re going out to
Wisconsin with a buffet menu of great sights in the Town of Wallkill.”
Unique? there’s that work again, just like the “unique” marijuana
producing, open space preserving facility he hopes to get in Wallkill.
Better back up from that Buffet, Danny, it looks like you’re
eating too much: selling street signs, pot farms and now water parks, what’s
next?
But we digress, back to Water parks. If Danny is
successful in siting a water park in one of his three locations (2 undisclosed,
one at the Fairgrounds-do the Gertners know?), that means there will be a
water park in Wallkill, one in Port jervis AND one in Sullivan County at the new
Casino.
From the article by Richard Bayne:
Depew, who was
never a proponent of an Orange County casino, said Wallkill wants to draw
travelers on their way up to the Montreign Resort Casino, along with creating
recreational and employment opportunities for Orange County residents. Although
Montreign’s plans include a water park, Depew said the nature of the industry
is such that visitors tend to try a number of parks “in a cluster environment.”
In a cluster environment? What in the world does that
mean? That people on their way to the casino are going to play water park leapfrog?
Boing! Wallkill, Boing! Port Jervis, Boing! casino Boing! boing! boing! And while
they are at it, they can go to the one
in Fishkill for an additional leap! Boing!
Are you serious Dan? That’s just too many water parks in
one area or, expressed in business terms, “Market Saturation”
But the exclamation of “jobs!” seems to rip all sense
from our elected officials and results in a knee jerk reaction. But that hue
and cry of “jobs!” does not excuse elected officials of performing their due
diligence; not just accepting claims at face value! (What kind? How many with actual numbers? For how long? Prove it! And we
are going to hold you to it etc)
For goodness’ sake, why do
you think people elected you?
In fact, it seems that all one has to do to elicit a positive
response from any official in Orange County is assert that there will be jobs
and/or the biggie: "the benefit and welfare of
children”.
Jobs and Kids.
Remember the Go Ocean Water Park proposal in Goshen? It
included BOTH! Jobs FOR Children! Lilyanna Traficante of Go Ocean, mastered both by claiming
her water park would provide jobs and living facilities for foster children (which
really sounded like a detention camp.) Oh! All the
elected officials jumped on that one, including a State Senator! Children and
Jobs!!! Jobs for children!!!
Well, most of us know how that went:
Woman Sentenced to 41
Months for Fake Water Park Plan
Due Diligence, please.
Maybe Danny got the idea for a Water Park from his former
boss, Shalom Lamm:
“He also had a dream along with Craig Passante to turn the Holiday Mountain Ski Area into a hotel/waterpark resort complex.” http://www.sullivancountypost.com/2014/06/13/lamm-devil/#sthash.G8XSj129.dpuf
BTW WATER PARKS do need electricity for their operations; maybe Ambit Energy is in the running for this project. Please refer to the Sullivan County Post link above for info on another of Shalom Lamm’s (and Danny’s?) ventures.
And remember, things are not always what they seem to be.
Think PJ is trying to do a White Water Park which, if accurate, is a different type of park. It would be more for white water activities in a stretch of the Delaware River probably involving canoes, kayaks and rafting. If realized (millions needed in grants), it would likely be more of a sporting attraction versus a family oriented recreation park. I could be wrong. Nevertheless your point is made.
ReplyDeleteYou are splitting hairs! I think the point Auntie was making was when you consider what Depew said and his reasons for trying to do this, this is a stupid idea. Keep it up Auntie!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd why do you need a park to go canoeing on the Delaware River? people do that now1 They get a canoe, put it in the water and go.
ReplyDeleteNOW NOW DANNY IS ACTING LIKE THE ORANGE COUNTY EXECUTIVE WATCH YOUR BACK Mr. NEUHAUS. Now HEAR THIS DAIN PASECELLO. Neuhaus front man is resigning his post. Maybe he will supervise VALLEY VIEW.
ReplyDeleteConfirmed by one OC Commissioner. Email received yesterday, 4/6/15, indicates Dain Pascocello has accepted other employment & not at Valley View, as cited in the last post. Harry Porr is now the go to guy!! Interesting, how the Mid Hudson News has "no story" on this??? They ALWAYS have the first breaking news on such matters. They are keeping a low profile on Dain & the hasty Demolition @ the OCGC.
