Can anyone truly believe that a man who has done nothing but use his political status as OC Republican Chair for his own enrichment (and for the empowerment of his wife, Acting Supreme Court Justice Catherine Bartlett), a man who has been truly political in all senses of the word, is one who is ready to suddenly become apolitical and judicial? Fair and respectful? What moral compass? The one he has been hiding since 2003?
When you consider Pistol sCam, Smiling American Heroes dental plan, VALLEY VIEW; his blatant political pandering and vendettas against un-favored ones; his silly statements about his wife wanting a judgeship …”We’ll get you one”; showing a complete lack of respect for the judiciary by indicating it was
something to buy or bargain for; and in general by statements he later made against Justice Slobod; do you really think he is a suitable candidate?
In the film production that is Bill Deprospo’s life, from having his father arrested to his ascension in the local republican party leading to the retirement job he now seeks, he is simply not up to the job! And don’t you believe that he is no longer politically active.
This is a man who is so political he accepts $5000.00 from Clark Patterson Lee, a firm that has benefited multiple times by the largess of the county AND $5000.00 from Uncle Phil Clark personally.

And from the Hudson Valley Building and Construction Trades Council which has benefited from Jobs! Jobs! Jobs! and is one of Stevie Neuhaus’ favorites: over $4000.00 (it pays to play).
And from Eddie Diana, his political ally: $9500.00 into his campaign coffers. $5000.00 from William Kaplan, who uses his money to fund his favorite causes, a Big Democrat supposedly..
Or from Joel Monty who bought Camp LaGuardia, multiple contributions over $4000.00!
And consider contributions (only a few hundred but it also shows the links to the “old gang”) from the campaign fund of James O’Donnell, Eddie Diana’s number two.
And many from NJ, where he was hiding for a while, including from a doctor and a financial planner , both in Bergen County.
Just how much money do you need to run a county wide campaign when you have no opponent? Why over $101,000! of course! How much did he spend? And of this accumulated cash, has he made a contribution to the Puerto Rico relief fund, money that is so disparately needed ?
Which would be better? His getting elected and not completing his term? Or being handily defeated by a write-in candidate? Auntie and the Team believe that he will not complete his term. He will resign due to “wanting to spend more time with his family” or something along those lines.
Being defeated by a write in candidate would be very funny.! We would all have to write the exact same name. No deviation from this one name, do not write in your favorite attorney or local judge, do not abbreviate or use initials, write in the following only:

Two political nobodies — Bill DeProspo and his wife, Catherine Bartlett — also stepped onto the field that day in Craigville Park.
Bartlett had her eye on the judgeship in Goshen Town Court. But they had no connections. They had only enrolled in the party a few years earlier.
“You want to be a judge?” he says. “Fine, we’ll get you a judgeship.”
“Raise a huge amount of money and scare the hell out of the opposition. That’s it.”
Some say Bartlett broke judicial code in 1997, when she ran for a seat on the Goshen Republican Committee and another ostensibly apolitical seat on the bench at the same time.
In most cases, people who run for positions of public power and influence do so out of a combination of personal ambition and a sense of public identity,” says Helen Ullrich, a civil rights lawyer from Chester who heads Orange County Democratic Women Inc. “In the case of these two, I don’t feel there’s anything there other than raw ambition.”

ReplyDeleteI will write in Mickey Mouse and other cartoon characters for some other uncontested races. Why do the Democrats fail to field candidates for so many races throughout the county? That's a real problem.
ReplyDeleteWhy are all these misfits running unopposed in this county. All have one glaring flaw... they are all connected and not in a good way. All share a common history and all should have been investigated a long time ago. We also have Diana, TOW supervisor, O'Donnell, OCL. They are all being handed these positions gratis and one must ask why. But deep down we know the common thread. And the endorsement of many of these running by Democrat DeStefano of these Republican thugs does not look kosher to me. A real slap in the face. But in OC anything goes if you pay enough and promise enough.
ReplyDeleteI have seen the flyers and signs and still cannot believe that DeProspo is even allowed to run for this office. It makes a mockery out of our court system. Holy Batman. And Auntie another fantastic job of reporting. Your research is mind boggling and Mickey has my vote.
