Dain Defends Mr. Earn and Whine

Dain Defends Mr. Earn and Whine (and Thank you to the dear niece or nephew who posted that clever name for Paulie!!!)

From the Chronicle:

Dain Pascocello SAID: "Mr. Ernenwein is a past and current member of many respected community organizations and causes, including the Orange County Citizens Foundation, the Children's Country Day School, Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center, the Newburgh Illuminated Festival, and the Newburgh Historical Society. His association with Elant is entirely voluntary and consistent with his attachment to the community in which he has lived all his life. Elant has not bid on Valley View, will not bid on the nursing home, and has no interest in bidding.”

"There is no financial stake in Mr. Ernenwein’s presence on the Local Development Corporation, full stop. County Executive Neuhaus selected Paul Ernenwein for the LDC and Mr. Ernenwein accepted for a simple reason: his experience in the community healthcare field combined with his commitment to volunteerism made him an excellent choice to participate on an all-volunteer board of directors charged with enhancing the quality of care for Orange County’s seniors and keeping Valley View nursing home open and operating."

Oh Dain! You silly, silly boy! Conflict of interest don’t always involve money. Funny, how you should think that. FULL STOP. Perhaps you are utilizing your uncle William Pascocello's interpretation of conflict of interest: Example: managing a County Department that does business with an entity in which you are part owner.

And who cares if Paulie was ONLY appointed by Stevie and made chair by the members of the LDC board (a common practice for any board, but surely you knew that). IF Stevie didn’t appoint him then he wouldn’t be chair. And conflicts can occur with Volunteer positions. See below:

conflict of interest (law.com)

n. a situation in which a person has a duty to more than one person or organization, but cannot do justice to the actual or potentially adverse interests of both parties. This includes when an individual's personal interests or concerns are inconsistent with the best for a customer, or when a public official's personal interests are contrary to his/her loyalty to public business. An attorney, an accountant, a business adviser or realtor cannot represent two parties in a dispute and must avoid even the appearance of conflict. He/she may not join with a client in business without making full disclosure of his/her potential conflicts, he/she must avoid commingling funds with the client, and never, never take a position adverse to the customer.

(red, bold ours)

So when The Chronicle asked if Mr. Earn and Whine, who serves on the board of a private nursing home which is also in Goshen, if he had a conflict of interest, one where he may favor the idea of a private nursing home over the public, you did not answer the question.

Deflect, Deflect, Deflect. Is that what Stevie Thunder is teaching you?

Or did he learn it from you?

And your statement, Dain: “his experience in the community healthcare field…” is very interesting. Did Paulie also obtain an MD in addition to his JD? RN perhaps? RNP or PA? Rph? Maybe he volunteers in nursing homes cleaning up bedpans or passing out pillows or just reading to people? No?

Or does his experience entail sitting on his arrogant butt making pronouncements about things of which he knows little?

And as far as the blathering of Mr. Earn and Whine, an attorney who should know better, well, We thinks he doth protest too much. His blathering basically spoke of how great he is. Maybe he is angry because someone had the audacity to question him.

Betcha the Newburgh law firm is starting to get worried when one of their partners comes across looking unhinged! One partner disbarred, one unglued. Gee, will you handle my case, please? Or maybe I should just plead guilty?

At least the rest of the partners are smart enough to keep their mouths shut.

Paulie is great.

And we are not.

PAULIE SAID: "You all will be quickly forgotten." Nice guy. We are surprised that he didn’t say something about crushing us like ants, you know, like the maniacal leader who aspired to be ruler of the universe, in a sci-fi movie.

Just as he was being defeated by Flash Gordon.

But YOU will NOT be forgotten, Paulie!
Auntie and the team are watching. And keeping score. And so far, we are not happy.

What an arrogant individual Mr. Earn and Whine is!!! I am also pretty sure that his law firm has gotten work through one of the organizations he "volunteers" for.

An investigative reporter should try to see if that is true for ALL the places he "volunteers" for ... because if that were true, then in addition to being an arrogant SOB, he would also be a slimy hippocrite !!
