Auntie, when you query VestraCare in the DOH website, you get this: “There are 0 nursing homes matching your search for VestraCare.”

VestraCare administrator Shannon Cayea-Delker and vice president Edward Farbenblum respond to one of the questions that was posed to them during a special meeting of the Chautauqua County Legislature on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014.

Chautauqua County Nursing Home in Dunkirk NY was sold to VestraCare, which is represented by VestraCare vice president Edward Farbenblum and administrator Shannon Cayea-Delker at this presentation to the Chautauqua County legislators. The home is still listed as county-owned on the DOH site.
leads to Dunkirk Holdings
(This is the contract of sale)
Hope this helps!

Yes it does! Thanks Again! Mon Cher Niece!

Chautauqua County and many other counties, including Orange County, are relying a great deal on a report produced by CGR, Center for Government Research in 2013. From the article above:

"Since then the county has spent money on a county home feasibility study by the Rochester, NY firm, Center for Governmental Research." (ours)

Spent money? Why? It is available on-line and the report was funded by the New York State Health Foundation. (Sounds really official doesn’t it? It (aka NYSHealth) is a private, statewide foundation)

Why did the county have to pay CGR???

Columbia County is also relying on the CGR Report and is looking to sell their county nursing home, Pine Haven. http://www.registerstar.com/news/article_6df5b850-e6e5-11e3-a558-001a4bcf887a.html

From the article on the registerstar.com website: “Data presented by Donald Pryor at the special Wednesday meeting of Columbia County’s Board of Supervisors from a Center of Governmental Research, in Rochester, showed fewer and fewer New York state counties propping up their own nursing homes.”

Donald Pryor, of the Center for Governmental Research, presents his findings about the future of county-owned nursing homes in New York State to the Board of Supervisors on Wednesday. (Columbia County)

Sorry folks, this is not, in Auntie's opinion a benign research institution that assists municipalities with various issues. This is not merely a resource for government that provides impartial information. They seem to be openly advocating for the sale of County run nursing homes!!!

And the language in the article “propping up” is prejudicial.

So much for objective reporting.

Remember, CGR was not exactly an impartial resource regarding the OC Government Center, in our opinion, since Uncle Phil, Philip Clark, of Clark, Patterson and Lee, is on the CGR Board and CPL was benefiting financially because of their work on the OCGCenter!

Get it?

Everyone is citing CGR as a proof source.

CGR, a private entity.

We will take a look at it next time.

And remember,

Qui bono?
