Legoland: It does not bring out the best in our officials
Dear Nieces and Nephews
(Auntie apologizes for the large scale sarcasm in
advance.)
It has now been confirmed. ALL members of TEAM ORANGE
have been confirmed to be duplicitous, dopey or both. Auntie and the Team were
holding out hope for the Orange County Sheriff, Carl Dubois, but we can no
longer do so. In response to security concerns associated with a theme park,
such as emergency evacuations and children’s safety from paedophiles, our
Orange County Sheriff, who Auntie previous mistook for someone intelligent, had
this to say:
CARL SAID: “They’re
going to be with their families, for God’s sake, they’re not going to be
walking around by themselves.”
You see, children NEVER get lost in a crowd so it won’t
happen, using Carl’s logic. And paedophiles never go to CHILDREN’S Parks, they
go to old age homes, using Carl’s logic.
Sheriff, ARE YOU FOR REAL?
Off course you need an emergency plan from the
municipality(ies) involved, just as there are such plans for the other venues
in this county with large amounts of people!!! And your office is supposed to
be a part of that!!! And did you confer with the NYS Police and local police departments to come to this conclusion?
And yes Sheriff, even if parents are having a fun day
with their kids, there is the chance that the kids may get separated from the
parents and meet the odd paedophile that realized there were not too many
children at Elant or the senior centers sprinkled throughout the county.
CARL also SAID: “When
you get a target audience between 2 and 12, I don’t see a lot of police
activity over there,”
And this is based on your sheriff’s department crystal
ball? The chances for criminal activity decrease as the crowd gets larger? And
what about some sick terrorist, who wants to strike fear into the very hearts
of the American people, do you see them as skipping a children’s fun park? It’s
not like they use their own children as suicide bombers or anything as horrible
as that. And it is not like the location is near other target zones which we
shall not name but you know where they are. Or should.
It is so reassuring that you, your Undersheriff and your deputies are
prepared for these contingencies and are not being dismissive of legitimate concerns,
such as emergency evacuations of large crowds in contained areas. You know, like
the concept of emergency exits in the movie theatres. Oh wait, that was someone else who wanted to
address the safety issue, a Goshen RESIDENT who was a NYPD officer in the
Bronx. Oh gosh, what would she know?
Obviously more than you do.
And also weighing in on Legoland is another member of TEAM
ORANGE. Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler!
“Orange County
District Attorney David Hoovler said his office has checked with officials in
Carlsbad, Calif., where Legoland operates a park, and they found no significant
uptick in prosecutions.”
“…has checked with officials…”
Who did you speak to in Carlsbad, Dave, the janitor? Was
this anecdotal or did you get some real numbers? Or did some clerk opine that
it hasn’t increased much since 1999 without bothering to look it up!!!?
From Orange County elected officials giving it the big
push to someone like Maureen Hallahan of Orange County Partnership, promoting, or
should we say “pimping” Legoland (to the
point where she appears at every public meeting, excitedly proclaiming that
other counties are “jealous”) this project, Legoland is suspect. It is suspect
based on these stupid comments alone.
It is even more suspect when you take a good hard look,
as required by law.

Have any of our elected officials given any thought as to what will happen when Legoland asks to expand the site in 8-10 years from now? Will they miraculously dig a new well in the "no-limit water supply" in the earth under Orange County? And, yes, expand they will.
And, Caro Nipoti, ask yourselves
these questions:
WHY did Legoland/Merlin Entertainments reject the
Stafford County VA site? They based their rejection of the Virginia site on the
notion that it did not meet their traffic requirements (The Virginia site is
off Interstate 95 and able to accommodate more traffic than Goshen!!)
“Stafford County
had attempted to woo British company Merlin Entertainments, which owns and
operates the parks, to locate such a park at the Centreport Parkway area off Interstate 95.”
As late as October 2015 and March 2016 Merlin Entertainments
was showing its commitment to Goshen by courting Stafford County AND Rockland
County NY,
“For the past
couple years, Legoland has been considering building a family-friendly theme
park in the Centreport Parkway area off Interstate 95. It would be the third
park of its kind in the country.
Legoland’s owners,
Merlin Entertainments Group, still hasn’t made a decision and didn’t respond to
a recent inquiry by Stafford leaders about the county’s chances.”
WHY did Legoland/Merlin reject the Stafford County
VA site when a location in Virginia could be open year-round instead of just seven months of the year?
WHY is this particular location in Goshen a magnet
for Water Parks? Remember GoOcean? The water park proposal supported by LOCAL
and STATE elected officials where the main proprietor, Lilly Trafficant, is
now in a Federal Penitentiary serving time for various felonies associated with
her GoOcean proposal.
And WHY do some people believe anything if it is
said with an English accent?
This is an actual display in the Carlsbad Ca. Legoland.
How tastefully done and a fine lesson for the three-year-olds not yet potty-trained!

Sounds like these officials are talking through orifices where the sun don't shine.
I think we all should have bought stock in the Kool-Aid our county politicians are drinking. Maybe it is not what is on this land, but what could be built on this land and the land near it, so others can GROW. Like someone said "pick your poison".
It looks like Dubois, Hoovler and the rest of the motley crew are really kissing up to Cuomo. I thought Democrats didn't like Republicans and vice versa(sarc intended ). I think the legoland toilet is a perfect discription of what our fearless leaders are trying to shove down our throats. I think the hole team needs to be voted out. How about Auntie Alibi for County Executive! !
Nice article. I would be interested to see how much $$ is being passed under the table and who is splitting the pie. Its the elected way.
I hope Goshen residents realize that Merlin entertainment is pmating us like a fool. They are asking for huge tax breaks and are goong going to pay their fair share like us small time taxpayers.
Legoland will continue to grow and expand each year using more water, more sewer and creating more traffic on our sensitive local roads and highways.
They are asking for zoning laws to be rewritten for them and this will allow other groups to ask for zoning laws to be changed also. Please write the Goshen town board and tell them Legoland does not belong in Goshen. This is not smart, responsible growth. Lets not sit back and see what happens. By then it will be too late and that quiet small little town will now be filled with tourists and idling cars.
