Steve and the Bandwagon
Dear Nieces and Nephews
After a multitude of elected officials have decried
“foul” and called for an investigation into the permitting process for the CPV
power plant in Wawayanda, our fearless leader, Stevie Wonder has called for,
guess what? an investigation into the permitting process of the CPV power
plant! This, off course, comes after the corruption charges following Preet
Bharara’s investigations into the power plant. (governor’s cronies, nepotism,
jobs, jobs, jobs! for wives and sons) After all, there is safety in numbers.
And everybody wants it! Skoufis, Legislators and candidate activists (with a
good chance of getting elected) and celebrities!
“Orange County
Executive Steve Neuhaus has joined the chorus
of elected officials and activists calling on a probe of the permitting
process behind Competitive Power Venture's $900 million power plant being
constructed in Wawayanda.”
This cry for an investigation is a "no-brainer" and safe
for him politically, just like his promise of 1000 jobs in 1000 days.
“When elected three
years ago, Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus promised to bring 1,000 new
jobs to the county in his first 1,000 days. He says he has exceeded that, announcing on Tuesday while in Monroe that in
fact, 5,945 jobs have been created.”
And from where did he get that number?
STEVE SAID: "I
think we have a great portfolio, very diverse; construction, manufacturing,
healthcare, professionals, all different levels and it's starting to grow. We
didn't have these opportunities in 2008.We're, now, gaining
them back."
Just the fact that he was so off in his prediction shows
that he did not know what he was talking about, but here he is taking credit
for the job growth. While he may be minutely responsible for “creating an
environment” to facilitate job growth, it basically has to do with the economy
improving overall and the luck of an excellent location, (Orange County being
close to NYC and at the intersections of major roadways, providing access to
major markets in other regions in the country. Or will he take credit for that
too?).
Also his declaration was safe because if OC did not see
job growth of at least 1000 jobs, jobs, jobs! in 1000 days, he could always
blame it on the IDA, the Chamber of Commerce and/or Maureen Hallahan of Orange
County Partnership. Oh! yes, and the
Democrats!
Yes, sir, everything is “shovel ready” in Orange County.
Yes, m‘am, Orange County will be paved over if Steve has
his way, except the touristy bits like the rivers.
Auntie and the Team have a question. If the jobs are so
good and plentiful, why do we need Legoland?
Do we need it for the extra traffic, pollution, noise and
drain on emergency services? How about for the increased crime and terrorist
threats (what better way to make a point by targeting children?)
Or maybe we need it to increase someone’s revenue.
After all, there’s lots of pockets to fill, here in Orange
County.
