Connect The Dots

Dear Nieces and Nephews

It is absolutely amazing that, in the wake of the bad press generated by Merlin Entertainments and Legoland, concerning environmental and other issues, that some one has come forth with another incredibly ignorant and just plain ridiculous proposal: “Draggon’s Gate”.

IN the THR, Draggon's Gate Entertainment Ltd., founder and board chairman Michael Hamilton, promised money for the school district and of course, Jobs! Jobs! Jobs for the area, to the tune of 1200 jobs!!!! Since Orange County is on the “short list” according to Hamilton, who wants to bet how long it will take Orange County’s cheerleader, Maureen Halahan, to publicly declare that this an AWESOME opportunity for Orange County? (Auntie wagers by Tuesday evening and most of the Team wagers Monday, what say you? The prize? Knowing that you were correct).

Land proposed for “Draggon’s Gate”, right next to Sterling Forest

And here is the incredible aspect: Acres of environmentally sensitive land, fast disappearing in the Northeastern US, is being threatened for....for,  this cr@p:

MIKE ROST SAID: “There are going to be six different outdoor themes – Stonehenge could be one, Roman time could be one, where they would have people walking – kind of like a souped-up Renaissance Fair is the best way to explain it,”

Could you be more specific? Mr. Rost? Could you please explain why you would consider such a concept, especially one with no plan/details but with undeniable detriments?

Did you think your Auntie was exaggerating when Auntie and the Team said that Orange County will be one big parking lot, great for tourism, not for living? Do you think your Auntie is being simplistic when we said to connect the dots?

With the advent of the “Draggons Gate” proposal for Tuxedo, we truly believe that the “parking lot premise” of total impervious surfaces is becoming more of a reality. See below*

A theme park that would give us ridiculous promises of jobs and revenue (see the way the Casinos lived up to their promise: http://www.recordonline.com/news/20180714/resorts-world-catskills-failing-to-live-up-to-first-year-projections ) should not be given serious consideration.

Has anyone noticed that these job estimates are based on nothing but someone’s fertile imagination? That maybe, just Maybe Steve Neuhaus “Noodlehaus” has a backroom filled with “administrative assistants” who do nothing but generate random numbers for random projects?

Steve marches in and says:
Legoland! The chorus responds 1000-2000 jobs!!
Draggons Gate! The administrative chorus responds 1200 jobs!
Water Park! 300 to 600 jobs! Organic Fisheries! 90 to 120! Amy’s 800 jobs!
1200!

Do you understand now?

Already a done deal? Perhaps. From the THR:
Orange County Economic Development Director Bill Fioravanti said the county is carefully reviewing the plan, but he likes the idea of more rateables.(Of course he does, that’s his job, the Economy)
BILL SAID: “There are tremendous expenses in New York, and a strong, diverse economy that can be viable for decades is the key to maintaining the quality of life we all enjoy here,

Bill Fioravanti, Are you actually telling us that destroying the county step by step; by eliminating the very reasons we live here; that destroying the county for temporary or never realized jobs IS what we need? Are you insane? Or do you believe that to have a good economy, you must destroy the environment?

Bill, What are you going to say when you are one of those responsible for this “vision” of Orange County becoming reality?

“I was only following orders….” ?

THIS is the REAL PLAN for Orange County. We need to stop it NOW! No matter how much bunkum is offered.

The Purple circles or “dots” are just there to remind us of the Millennium and Pilgrim Pipelines, their disruption and subsequent effects.

*“Connect the dots” representing large scale development with a majority portion or total surface area that is paved over or built on, green space destroyed.

² Draggon’s Gate, Tuxedo
² Planned communities in Tuxedo and Sloatsburg (Rockland Border)
² High Density Developments in:
Palm Tree, Kiryas Joel, South Blooming Grove, Woodbury, Monroe and Chester
² High Density developments in Pine Bush (next to Bloomingburg in Sullivan County)
² Orange County Fair in Middletown and proposal for a water park in Wallkill (did not officially “die”); Wawayanda’s CPV power plant
² Proposed water Park in Port Jervis on the Delaware River (infrastructure will be “improved” to facilitate easy access)
² Warehouses in Montgomery and Hamptonburgh
² Legoland in Goshen and“Improvements” to Route 17, Amy’s.

Just like Pinocchio’s “Pleasure Island”, Orange County will become a place of promises not realized.

Pleasure Island

Just whose “economy” will benefit from establishing another theme park?

So, OC will be known for being the home of the poorest of the poor, and only the rich and famous will come here to 'play and frolic'. There will be no room our trees, wildlife, rivers and streams. And the residents of OC, who make up the backbone and pay the salaries of local politicians are being squeezed out and running, not walking out of this corrupt county.

There seems to be a hell bent secret society designed to destroy our eco-environment. Instead of creating real job with wages that people/families can subsist on, they are proposing low paying, part time, low socio-economic jobs. Not to mention the fact that our highway system as it exists can barely handle the day to day commute of our working class people who set their dreams on moving to OC for a better way of life. Now they will be double trapped. Nice work OCP/IDA and our corrupt local politicians.

Another Trojan Horse. Haven't our lands/rivers been ravaged enough by people with "have I got a deal for you?" What is really next is right.
