JAMES SKOUFIS YOU’RE LATE!!! AND WELCOME BACK UNCLE PHIL!!!

Dear Nieces and Nephews, it doesn’t matter if your local representative puts thought into legislation so that it may actually address a problem or issue; it doesn’t matter if it is actually is a solution, it does not matter!!! You must be first! 

According to the press release issued by the Thunderous Stevie Neuhaus, County Executive like no other, you must extoll the virtue of being first!!! Karl Brabenec’s plan to have the county involved as a lead agency in annexations was not only contrary to the NYS Constitution, it was contrary to common sense AND reflects a power grab* by the County Executive. (Please refer to our post on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 “ALL FOR SHOW”)

STEVE SAID “After more than a year of inaction by majority party members in Albany, newly elected Assemblyman Brabenec is taking the lead and has forced our other representatives to finally put pen to paper, introducing legislation to give us a say in the annexation process. I hope it’s not too late and I will be urging the County Legislature to join in support of these much-needed State Law changes.”

Mr Skoufis, were you forced? Did the ill thought out legislation presented by Mr. Brabenec force you to act? (Or were you already in the process of actually doing some work?) Do you really think the environmental record of a municipality should be considered when establishing lead agency for an environmental review? Do you think using a process already in place, adapted to this circumstance is appropriate? Come on, what were you thinking??? (Sarcasm level 10)

You may have a good plan, but they were FIRST.

*Wait,  let’s get back to the power grab thing”.

In the guise of wanting to fulfill a campaign promise to stop annexations by Kiryas Joel (the municipality that overwhelmingly supported him in the election) Stevie Neuhaus is hiring…wait for it…… UNCLE PHIL!!! 

Uncle Phil aka Phil Clark of Clark Patterson Lee!! You know, the firm that is running an open tab using Orange County’s purse. the very firm that has been paid millions for ruining the Orange County Government Center, the very firm that WAS working with the real architects until they decided to leave citing ethical concerns,  the firm that is working with Delaware Engineering to EXPAND THE SEWER PLANT IN Harriman, yes that one. Yes, the one who contributed big bucks to Stevie’s campaign. No predetermined outcome here (get the Sarcasm Meter out).

“But Auntie, CGR is the Center for Governmental Research, not CPL” 

Oh Cari Nipoti, did you really forget? Please refer to our post on Saturday, February 7, 2015, “An Avuncular Avocation”. Phil Clark of CPL is also Phil Clark of The Center for Governmental Research, the ones who did the Nursing  Home report that Steve and his ilk cited when arguing for the sale of Valley View.

 

 

       

 

So, in February, your Auntie said: “Uncle Phil is now in league with Delaware Engineering, D.P.C. to undertake a study to expand treatment capacity from six to nine million gallons per day. AND the study parameters include Chester and New Windsor in addition to the original communities served by OCSD #1. Wow!” 

And last week: “Couple this with the parallel SEQR, it gets even more interesting. On its face, the $200k for a parallel SEQR seems good. That is, If it is not a ruse to justify increased sewer capacity (a miracle) at the Harriman plant; which would benefit that one expanding community greatly.”
